This set has been on my mind since I found this steampunk-inspired watch in the spring. I was able to get 2 and promised my little man it was his after I finished his set! Do you know how many mornings her snuggled into bed with me saying "Is this the day you're making my steampunk outfit mommy?" ooooo if only there were more hours in a day!! But it is done and I made his sweet little sister a set to match! This one is my favorite picture of her looking up at him with all the love in the world. Just listed this "Grease-Inspired" set for our Polkadotz Grease launch. Ocean Princess is inspired from that sweet beach scene at the beginning of the movie....new love and summer carefree...ahhhh.. I love the movie and of course the play! I was actually lucky enough to play"Sandy" in my high school production of Grease....many years ago...sigh! Fun times :)

The new Gnomeo movie looked so sweet when I saw the original trailer...I knew I had to make a gnome set. We are busy doing holiday fun things here! I love this time of year when snow surrounds us and I force myself to relax a bit more despite being more "busy" than usual! I love the cold despite my relentless search for warmth....warm drinks, warm blankets, warm fires....an excuse to huddle even closer to loved ones, preferably next to a roaring fire. Whew! I've been very bad at blogging, posting pics, facebooking and all that jazz....but was very good at enjoying every last breath, swim, walk, and popsicle summer had to offer! I'm immersed in catching up on orders, as well as getting acquainted with a whole brand new bunch of cute Kindergartners who are suddenly keeping me very busy....one including my own sweet little guy....he is not always as sweet as he looks below....but pretty close!! I did manage to finish and photograph a new set listing Tuesday...so stay tuned!!

Arielle is in heaven this week at horse camp! She is a little horse lover! This sweet dress was a request several weeks ago for Arielle's first grade poetry recital where she read her poem selection titled "Dream Horse." Holiday Joy

I really enjoyed the little joys of the holiday season. Lots of time with family. Down time from work. Making memories. The girls wore these dresses I made for Christmas Eve...and many, many days leading up to the big day. They loved these dresses and I even caught Wynter sleeping in hers more than once. Easter Fun

We had such a great, yet busy Easter. We posed for pics at an Easter egg hunt in a gym near our house. DH is getting so much better about getting me in the pictures so that someday the kids will really know I existed!

We laughed until there were tears in our eyes at this creepy bunny that our kids would not go near!

We posed for pics in front of grandma's bunny cake on Saturday. Here's mommy's favorite little guy!

Off to the big Easter egg hunt and dinner (with traces of snow everywhere) at my aunt and uncles. There was soooo much great food, cousins and KIDS! We have such a beautiful and blessed family and really laughed and had such fun. It was so great to see so many family members, some of whom we haven't seen in a long time! Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

Ahhhh. The fantasy set of childhood. My girls love unicorns and I must say...so do I! This is one of those sets that I made excuses to just walk by and google at in my studio....YES...I am craving spring and mourning yet another snowy day here in APRIL! This was a breath of fresh air to work with and to photograph! I love the rich, fresh color combo and the GLITTER right in the fabric. You may find it HERE !

Pained Expression

Wynter got her first haircut....I should preface this post by saying that I am a different person with scissors near hair than I am near fabric. I truly am not fit to go near any human's precious locks with scissors...My poor husband can attest to that. I am not welcome to even suggest I cut his hair EVER again. So I was pleasantly surprised when he didn't protest to the suggestion that I give Wynter her first haircut! It would be, just a few little snips after all.

Nothing fancy here. Just some dishtowels on the counter. I was excited to attempt this task...but my worried expression gives it all away. What a little trooper Wynter was. Kind of an unexpected detour to a busy afternoon. No more baby mullet!

We had the most "spectacular" weekend with our Fancy Nancy themed luncheon birthday party! My mom and I made sandwiches of little shapes and added fancy umbrellas and frilly toothpicks. We had "sparkling" juice and played pin the jewel on the tiara. I had all the girls sign the poster ahead of time at school (little job work perks when planning a Kindergarten birthday party :). The girls enjoyed making magic wands and bracelets, and of course making their own parfaits....yum, yum!!! My hubby even got in on the fun for a few moments by dressing in a suit and passing out tiaras to the girls when they arrived! We had a special guest appearance by the girls' very own Kindergarten teacher who....just so happens to be one of my dearest friends :) another job perk when planning a Kindergarten birthday party :) She dressed fancy and was her crazy fun self and helped "fancy" up the girls' nails with polish and nail stickers.

My dad kept the little kids busy in the basement after the girls arrived. And oh....the joy of me having yet another opportunity to get out my senior prom dress....I WILL post pictures in the next few days! I was fancy mommy for sure! One of the sweet girls kept touching my dress and telling me how beautiful it was :) I was rocking in the 90's though!!

So....my biggest baby is now 6. What a beautiful girl we are blessed with. She is so kind, smart and funny! So full of creative energy and reading like a champ! She is such a little thinker and has such love for our family. She is my cuddle bunny and snuggle-puppy and I am the luckiest mama in the world to have such a girl!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season. I look forward to posting some holiday pictures when I return home. I am enjoying this break from both sewing and teaching and have been so busy doing fun family things.

I just checked in on Kaden's "Baby" who is currently in route to China. A wonderful family in our town is traveling to China to bring home their two latest blessings. http://jacobsjourneyhome.blogspot.com/ I am fortunate enough to have one of their amazing daughters in my Kindergarten classroom this year, and my class will be following mom and dad's adventure to bring home their TWO new baby sisters. To spice up the journey followings we have added Kaden's baby to their travels. Baby is closely gaining on us in his worldly travels these days. He has been fortunate enough to travel to Costa Rica and St. Lucia, and most recently to see Santa in the North Pole....but this is his first Asian adventure! Stay tuned and happy travels!

My eyes are bleary as I take a break from my next piece...I continue to amaze myself with my happy functionality with barely a wink of sleep and working full time...I continue to vow to sleep more and create less, but it just doesn't seem possible. I am hosting a gathering this Friday and even managed to dust some chandeliers this evening (much to the surprise of DH)!

But...just had to take a break to post a few sweet photos of our outing this past weekend picking out some apples and pumpkins in nearly 80 degree weather. I even managed to make a pie with all our fresh apples. Happy fall everyone!

Our Family Has Changed

Two weeks ago tomorrow our family was turned upside down. I know I will never forget that middle-of-the night phone call and the events that have unfolded since. It truly is one of those situations that leaves you praying to wake up from a nightmare. My father-in-law, an amazing and giving man, the most adoring grandfather, a father we leaned on, a friend to so many...a husband so loved...has been lost to a terribly devastating car accident. We are all trying our best to adjust, and have been so blessed with the support of our family, friends and church. We will go on living with the memories of this amazing person we all loved so much, and the life we are blessed with. We love you dad!

Peace Out Groove Cats! I am adding this to our line of cute oversized pocket dresses for school! I will be teaching in the fall in the same building as Arielle (possibly AS her Kindergarten teacher due to displacement of all other K teachers in out building....yikes!!), and have promised to drop little surprises in her pocket when I see her (this promise was actually made before I found I'd most likely actually BE her teacher! Regardless, I adore how cool and comfy it turned out...not to mention groovy :)l!

A Pair of Pajamas...And a Very Hungry Caterpillar

Arielle has recently discovered the joy of sewing. She spends a great deal of time hand winding thread onto her bobbin, arranging fabrics from my scrap and trim boxes, and coming up with all sorts of interesting designs. This is a pair of pajamas she has made for her cousin Edmund. Yes, he is a boy and about 7 years old....so we are both pretty positive he will just love them. My husband and I are just hoping he lets her down pretty easy when she discovers Edmund can't fit it past his ankles. She wanted to sew the bottoms closed so his feet would be trapped just like in her sleeper pajamas!

Happy Mother's Day...and an Animal Parade

I have never been a huge fan of the whole "breakfast in bed" idea...but when told to stay in bed so the kids and Jason could prepare me a breakfast of blueberry waffles, turkey bacon and a fresh fruit bowl, I had to rethink my cynical attitude. Any meal that does not include me standing and fetching for the family has me changing my tune. It was heaven. I dragged it out by laying in bed making phone calls and sipping my coffee. We should have about 20 Mother's days a year!

I was also delighted by this extremely creative Mother's Day gift from Arielle. For those of you who can't read like the mother or teacher of a just-turned-5-year old it says "Happy Mother's Day :)" I love the little stick she ran out to get to place it just "so" in the bunnies hands. Isn't it just the sweetest thing you've ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the TAPE!!!!!!! Such love was invested here!

And last but not least...my Mother's Day gift to my mom. I really wanted a beautiful bag for her AND myself too...so I "sewed two birds with one stone." (or GingerBlossoms I should say!) Hope everyone had a fabulous Mother's Day!

This post is dedicated to my sweet little guy who just celebrated his 3rd birthday! My little boy who is obsessed with whacking anything and everything.....likes to disassemble my vacuum cleaner parts so that he may sleep with his cherished weapons...who irritates his sister to tears...who relentlessly gets up before the sun to pull a barstool over to our fruit bowl to remove a banana from the group so that he may finish his sleep clutching his beloved pre-breakfast snack....who would sit for hours as long as he is being read to....who is the wildest little thing I've ever met, yet pats my arm, looks at me lovingly, and tells me "I weally love you!"HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLE MAN!!

We celebrated his birthday with family and a train ride at the zoo. He's
wearing his groovy train shirt I made for the event. He was so excited waiting
for the train, I thought he might burst! Amazing what a $1 train ride will
buy in terms of childhood joy!!

I've just listed this new set on Ebay! I fell in love with the sweet Import print with birds and balloons and then added all my favorite prints from my new spring designer fabrics, as well as some precious pieces from my stash! With all the great new prints out there, I just became indecisive about what pieces to incorporate...so "up and away" was my result...although at times I thought my mind was going "up and away" while piecing all those details together!! Also just listed a set with the same bird and balloon fabric at my Etsy shop...very funky hip and we got so many compliments by some hipster artists while photographing this set...and Arielle became the subject of their paintings! Find that set here on Etsy!

They have asked me to share 7 random or weird facts about myself...oh where should I begin, lol! I know some of these facts may be a repeat from a former tag...but I only have so many interesting aspects of myself to go around!

1. My dad was my middle and high school principal.
2. I was very into horses. I had horses at my house growing up and was really into showing horses on the weekends. I had to sell them when I started college.
3. I have a Master's Degree in Education.
4. I lived and worked in Japan before marriage, traveled through a bit of Asia, South America and Europe....traveled the country for several months in a van with my hubbie before marriage...now a trip across the state is quite an occasion!
5. My husband and I were on the TLC show "A Wedding Story."
6. My husband and I once picked up a hitchhiker (when we had the van) and he was quite the "stayer.." we couldn't get rid of him, his destination kept changing. He literally was with us for days on his way from a Rainbow Gathering. He was nice enough and all, but finally after several days he truly was on my nerves and we left him in Colorado.
7. My children call the UPS truck "the fabric truck" and I don't have the heart to correct them because in our case it is totally true!!!

2 New Listings and the silliest girl!

Well I've opened a store on Etsy and have listed a few items in my store! I've just added this sweet mermaid set today! I couldn't get my angel to stop making grand dramatic gestures while photographing it...she really felt like a mermaid!

Now...my new favorite for the GingerBlossom launch on Ebay! I searched for the softest and crisp looking broadcloth I could find and found an exquisite white to match my vision for the pairing with Sandi's new Ginger Blossom line! I wanted to make this really special and have added lots of details to this set to truly make it unique. I probably took 50 pictures of this set...most of which were the silliest poses and crazy faces made be my newly crowned 5 year old.

My latest set is made combining 2 of the most adorable import fabric from Japan! It is full of fun with a retro look to it, so I had to do something really fun for this set! I started off thinking "I'm going to do something simple," since I've been really booked lately...but as hours and hours of fun went by I just couldn't do "simple." I am so crazy about all these animals and my little one was so excited to put this on (no not just because I bribed her with a bit of pre-birthday ice cream, lol!) You may find this set here! I had so much fun doing sister sets for the AnthologyInc Reflections launch that started today! We did spring pictures for our kids yesterday and this being the second try at this, they were surprisingly cooperative! It sure is a challenge getting THREE little ones to look at the camera at the same time without someone making a weird face...but we did our best! I feel in love with this Full Moon Forest Line with artistically hidden bunnies, owls and bees. Purple just happens to be my all time favorite color too, and I don't think I've ever designed a set around the color! The ruffle pants are actually my favorite part of the set because the purple Damask print with the sweet hidden bunnies is something I could look at all day long!!! Happy Birthday Baby Girl!

We just finished a party for my baby Wynter!
1 year old already. It is so cliche about "how time flies," but so true. I've been very dedicated to enjoying these fleeting moments with my babies...they are such blessings.

We had a "cupcake" themed party for Wynter and not being much of a "baker," was impressed with my darling little cupcakes. The kids who RARELY get sweets, were pretty excited about the cupcakes. It was painful putting a sugar-laden cupcake in front of my little baby....she got into it a bit and then I switched it out for some organic bananas and cheese....Hey, she didn't seem to even notice! She was more excited about the pom poms on her little cupcake birthday skirt to notice. I finished this skirt the night before her party and the cupcakes about 20 minutes before the guests arrived! Whew!

I started a tradition when I had baby #1, compiling video footage from the year and putting it to music for a tribute video. I have now done that for each birthday for every child. With three now, that task has become quite a challenge. But as the family gathers around to watch some of these fleeting moments and memories each birthday, I get inspired to maintain my tradition. Wynter's song was "Better Together" by Jack Johnson...you may be listening to it now here on my blog. One of my favorite lines is "love is the answer at least for most of the questions in my heart...like why are we here, where do we go, and how come we're so hard?"....

It is hard to believe my sweet cupcake has reached the first birthday milestone. She is so laid back and it is amazing how laid back we've become as parents to a third baby. If half the stuff that is done to her had been done to our first born (being dragged about the house by older siblings, eating dropped morsels of food off the floor, knocked over with "love" by her 2 year old brother, etc. etc), we may have had a heart attack. Happy Birthday Wynter Soleil! You truly are our "winter sun!" and you've make our hearts larger every day!!

Snow Play Sets and Rare WHOLE family shot!

I had such fun collaborating with
Kirsten of Winipoo Jewels and Rachel of MyDeepBlueC on these Snow Play sets! Both of these girls' work is just amazing and detailed!

This is possibly one of my favorite Japanese Import fabrics ever..so vibrant and adorable, and I mixed it up with a few lovely European fabric including the TDF German Corduroy that I sooooo love!

On a personal note, we have already seen Santa, and done some Christmas shopping...and I've even whipped out the mixer to attempt some baked goods! I have to admit I am not a baker....I can CREATE many non-baked good items out of thin air and love every second of it....but baking is NOT my "cup of tea." I despise it actually. After a round of homemade peppermint patties and 2 batches of less than terrific cookies, I am DONE with my holiday baking. Hours of making a mess in a kitchen all for something that is going to be gobbled up and vanished just isn't fun for me. My husband was laughing to see my 2 "big" kids....and me...and every bare patch of counter space imaginable...covered in goo...and me outwardly admitting that yes...I "hate" baking. Merry Christmas all and let your cookies and baked goods be better than mine!

Mommy's Little "Helper"

With the craziness of three, a little helper is always welcome. With past feeding success with my little helper, I trusted I could manage to get dressed very quickly just down the hall. Upon my return I was informed that "Wynter was making a mess." I calmly said I would like to take a picture of how "good" she is at helping me.

Sooooo, one might suppose that a lesson was learned. Nope. Dinner time rolls around and I'm running a bath for the "big kids" and allow my "helper" to once again take over. This is what I find just minutes later. Accident or purposful and pure entertainment value???? hmmmm.

Joyful Sparrow

Here is my latest set, Joyful Sparrow. I had started this set to list with my other for the Joel Dewberry Indelible launch, but as things often go with an out-of-commission knee and three kids under the age of 4, it just wasn't complete in time. I have been working out the details of this set taking it from the image in my mind to paper to reality, so I'm so happy with how it turned out!

We had a blast doing these pictures....although I did end up with some Poison Ivy, which I can only guess came from being in the woods with these shots. I wasn't exactly prepared for a woodsy hike, but little miss "Joyful Sparrow" herself had other plans. She just knew all the birds wanted to see her in her bird set....gotta love 4 year olds! Fleeting Summer

We've been soaking up the last days of summer around here. A recent trip to the Hands-On-Museum with me in my wheelchair, children on my lap and a wild-driving husband has given me even more appreciation for the free use of my legs.
The countdown is on for my knee surgery. Pooooooooooor me!!

I can never believe it when summer is "over." Life moves so fast...we learned we need to pinpoint "dates" with our friends, especially the ones that don't live right across town.

We've done a great job this summer of getting together with many of our beloved friends, some of whom we don't see on a regular basis. Here's a shout out to Rob and Julie, and darling Jackson who we finally had a chance to meet yesterday! We love you guys!!!

some excavation work around the pyramids in Egypt. Since this silly knee
injury, I've had more time to look around and appreciate the art inside our humble walls. My husband and I both had a severe traveling bug before we got married, and we each had the opportunity to do some world travels, much to the dismay of our bank accounts. We had some amazing travels both together and apart, and we went with the "do it while you can" theory as much as we could! With

" ....ain't nothing gonna slow me down, whoa-oo, I've got to keep on movin...oooooo"

O.K. well maybe this does break my stride. And slows me down. And has certainly made me less fun. Here we are on vacation...which usually includes hiking, kayaking, beaching it, running after children....and most of these things are happening...without me!! I had a little "meniscus tearing" incident occur just a few days before we left, and has left me on crutches for 7-10 days!!!

We're still having fun though. I borrowed a wheelchair which has allowed me to get pushed at great speeds around the campground by my husband who is forced to entertain himself by all of this. The kids enjoy getting turns riding in the wheelchair and I can pick things up with the crutches when anyone drops things. I am served like a queen instead of being the one doing everything for everyone at all times! And I'm most certainly the brunt of all family jokes here all of a sudden.

Soooo, here's hoping for a speedy recovery....one can't just be a gimpy queen forever now can she??

Treasure burial markers

Where's my treasure mommy??

These may look like little sticks in the ground to the average eye. But make no mistake...these are treasure markers. I like to mix things up here a bit. Every once in a while , instead of just giving my darling children a cookie or one of their fave treats such as YES a "date," I make a little game out of it. They have been digging in their sandbox for the better part of a 1/2 hour here in search of their buried tresure. They love this game and I have fun burying and marking their space. Today inside their ziplock bags are some new zoo animal toys and a triple gingersnap cookie...and yes...a date! Not only did they gobble up their lunch (goat cheese, spinach and crab quesidillas), but they have been digging for all this time which allows me to watch out the window while I blog about it. HERE is my contribution! I've made a super comfy and adorable Euro style jumper that is perfect as a dress, a top paired with the ruffle jeans, or for layering well into fall! 7 very fun years ago is the day we tied the knot! So much has changed in those 7 years...who would've imagined we'd have these 3 incredible children and all these memories. We went out to celebrate last night with a simple evening of dinner at one of our favorite Japanese restaurants and a movie. Anniversaries before kids were few but more elaborate. These are my lovely roses. What a guy! He doesn't complain (too much) about my passion for creation or my fabric obsession. He helps out and knows how to fix things. He's an amazing father and very sweet. I guess I made a great choice those 7 years ago. Jason, if you ever read my blog, I LOVE YOU!! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!

I find I am often inspired by retro fashion. So needless to say I was amazed by this "Magazine of Fashion" my mom stumbled across in my grandma's old sewing treasure trove. This was from "Spring and Summer 1914." On the hot day I pored through this, delighted by its brittle pages, "cutting edge fashion" and the lack of color and texture choices, I think I was most amazed by the bathing suit page. "Misses' And Children's Bathing Suits" ranging in price from .50 to a whopping $2.98. Available in Navy only but trimmed in white, black or red, woo hoo! Check out the fashionable shoes you can sport with your bathing "dress." And check out that lady swimming happily at the top!!! Thanks grandma for this serious blast from the past!!

Furry, soft, sweet...He is named "Baby" and he is Kaden's cherished "lovey." He eats breakfast off his face, uses him to hit his sister, smothers him with hugs and kisses, and gets about as many baths as the kids do. For this rough and tumble little fella who prefers balls to learning colors, it is very sweet to witness. HOWEVER....napping and nightime without baby CAN NOT HAPPEN....which would be fine, except I spend more time searching for Baby then I do shaving my legs;....he has been found in cupboards, in my shower, behind the toilet (mmmm makes ya want to snuggle right up next to him), and tucked away inside my sewing machine cover. Baby has a way of hiding EVERY SINGLE day! Just when you think you've looked everywhere, there is a brand new spot he's managed to travel to. Kaden rarely remembers where he's hidden his blasted little lover-dog and screams until I find him. On this happy June day of visitors and playdates, I've just been on yet one more scavenger hunt for "Baby" and now naptime has begun.

The Princess and the Basil

With life moving so fast in our whirlwind of 3 little ones, and getting so caught up in our daily rituals, I mindfully take time out of each day to spend direct quality time with each of these precious angels. It may only be a series of stories or a game, or something more elaborate like making "Goo" or a specific painting project;...today while Wynter had her morning nap and Kaden was occupied in the sandbox, Arielle and I added some herbs to our ever-expanding garden. We planted some basil, mint, cilantro together this morning while I captured another moment that I hope to forever treasure.

Well, I'm always taking HER picture and she really wanted to take mine today! This could be an advertisement for my camera "so simple even a 4-year old can use it!" So here they are!! There were a few really nice ones of the couch, the carpet, etc. where she completely missed, but as you can see, she improved in all of 5 minutes!

Well, I'm new to blogland, and fun as it may be, I'm not sure I understand how to "tag." So sorry to everyone who has tagged me...I'll get better. And finally here I go. I'm supposed to post my "Five 5 minutes of fame!" So here goes my five!

1) When traveling with some friends in Thailand we were on the plane with Harrison Ford and he WINKED at us! The short of this long story was we were traveling from Thailand to Japan where our buddy "Harrison" was doing an interview about his movie "Six Days Seven Nights". When we got off the plane and through customs we lagged behind waiting for friends (Remember this Natalie, Liz, Sara, Andy and Dom...oh that's right Nat you missed it cuz you were being interogated!!!) and were swarmed by Japanese media and Harrison gave us a knowing "wink and smile" as he squeezed past us!

2) I was Sandy in my high school musical of "Grease." "Your the one that I want..."

3) My husband and I were on the TLC show "A Wedding Story."
Here is me with my husband below He's really tall. O.K. this is not really my husband...but I thought I'd throw you for a loop. This is a guy who does some Wild West show somewhere in South Dakota. So I was really famous for getting my pic with him!

4)I'm kind of always a celeb around my town. Really, I can't go anywhere without seeing one of my former Kindergarten or First Grade students. And they are always so excited to see me like I'm FAMOUS!!

5) I carried this darn bag all the way in the Peruvian Rainforest to get a picture with it. I haven't stepped foot in this outdoor store for quite some time, but it was hanging there the last time I checked. I'm like a poster child here in the Rainforest with that creepy little monkey on my shoulder. AND...then "Martin the Martin monkey" peed on me!! How's that for 5 minutes of fame!! O.K. I'm gonna tag 2 people...Christine I'm sure you are good at this game. And Shelley, I'd love to see what you've got!!!
